INDEX!, Shareware from Trinity Software
--Automatic insertion of index codes for Ventura Publisher
IND200.ZIP is a compressed file which may be decompressed with PKUNZIP.EXE
from PKWARE. Copy IND200.ZIP to the directory of your choice and then
decompress it by typing PKUNZIP IND200 [enter]. This will create the
following files:
INDEX.EXE: The Index! executable file.
INEXTMEN.HLP: On-line help file for the Exit menu.
INFILMEN.HLP: On-line help file for the Files to Index menu.
INTERMEN.HLP: On-line help file for the Terms to Index menu.
INGENMEN.HLP: On-line help file for the Generate Index menu.
INDEXMAN.EXE: A self-displaying file containing the Index! manual.
Instructions for printing are in the file.
REGISTER.TXT: Index! registration form.
README.IND: This file you are reading now.
You are free to try Index! for 30 days. After that time, if you decide
to continue using Index!, you must register the program. The registration
fee is $79.00.
NEW IN VERSION 1.5
Version 1.5 of Index! allows for the indexing of Ventura cross references.
Earlier versions did not index cross references. This option is controlled
with the Index Cross References? setting in the Defaults menu option of
the Generate Index menu. The default is N (no indexing of cross references).
In a text editor, cross references appear in the bracket code which begins
<$R. Cross references can contain both a variable name and specific text
for the cross reference. If you set Index Cross References? to Y (yes), you
will probably wish to avoid indexing variable names by using variable names
that do not match any of the SRCH terms in your Index! database.
NEW IN VERSION 2.0
Version 2.0 adds a number of new features and improvements:
1. Improved support for Tables and Equations. Index! 2.0 will properly handle
all Ventura for Windows 4.0 and higher tables and most tables from earlier
versions. In addition, if you experience any problems with tables after
having run Index!, you can use a single command to Exclude Tables, and run
index again.
2. In addition to the original Exclude Tags feature, Index! 2.0 offers an
Include Tags feature as well. With Exclude Tags, you specify up to 20 tags
that you do not wish Index! to process; with Include Tags, you specify up to
20 tags as the ONLY tags you wish Index! to process. (Earlier versions
supported up to 10 tags for Exclusion only.)
3. Earlier versions allowed you to strip index codes from a file by
specifying one file at a time. Version 2.0 allows you to strip codes from
your entire project with a single command.
